Anthony Joshua accident: Lexus SUV driver arraigned in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arraigned the driver of a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) allegedly involved in a road accident that generated widespread public interest following reports linking former world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, to the incident.
The driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was on Friday charged before a Magistrate Court sitting in Sagamu, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, confirmed.
In a statement issued in Abeokuta on January 2, 2026, DSP Babaseyi said the defendant was formally docked over his alleged role in the accident, adding that the matter had been adjourned to January 20, 2026, to enable the court continue with further proceedings.
The police spokesperson noted that investigations into the incident were ongoing, assuring members of the public that due process would be followed in line with the law.
The accident had earlier attracted significant attention on social and conventional media after reports emerged linking the incident to Anthony Joshua, prompting the Ogun State Police Command to clarify developments and pursue legal action accordingly.
