Governor Hyacinth Alia has approved the dissolution of the Board and Management of Lobi Stars Football Club, the Benue State–owned team based in Makurdi.

The affected board, chaired by Dr. Philip Nongu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Creativity, was dissolved with immediate effect.

A statement issued on Thursday in Makurdi by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, said the move was part of efforts to reposition the club for greater efficiency, accountability, and improved performance in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and other competitions.

Governor Alia directed all members of the dissolved management to hand over official documents, assets, and responsibilities to the Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Creativity without delay.

While appreciating the outgoing board for its service to the club and the state, the Governor assured that a new management structure would soon be announced to drive the next phase of Lobi Stars’ growth and competitiveness.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sports development as a strategic tool for youth engagement, talent discovery, and social cohesion in Benue State.
