Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has called on a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. James Faleke, to respect the wishes of Osun State voters and refrain from allegedly pressuring the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election.

Davido made the call in a post on his X handle on Saturday, as collation of results from the August 15 governorship election continued across the state.

The singer, who is a nephew of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, specifically appealed to Faleke to respect the choice of the electorate and allow the electoral process to run its course.

Davido’s statement came amid heightened political activities and growing attention to the collation of results by INEC following the governorship poll.

He also rejected any alleged attempt to influence the outcome of the election in favour of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.

In the post, Davido directly addressed Faleke, writing: “Hon. James Faleke, stop putting pressure on INEC to change Osun election result. Respect the wishes of Osun people. We don’t want Oyetola and AMBO.”

The singer’s intervention has added a high-profile voice to the ongoing developments surrounding the collation of results from the election.

As of Saturday evening, the collation of results was ongoing, with political parties and their supporters closely monitoring the process.

INEC is expected to formally announce the final result after the completion of the collation and verification process.
