Dr. Akutah declares his 2027 Benue guber ambition before Jemgbagh community, seeks their support

The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Dr. Pius Akutah has formally announced to the Jemgbagh Development Association (JDA) his intention to contest the Benue State governorship in 2027.

He disclosed his ambition during the 2025 Annual General Meeting of the Jemgbagh Development Association (JDA), held at the residence of the Association’s President General, Prince Yandev Amabai, in Gboko.

Dr. Akutah attended the meeting as a guest and representative of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.

While delivering the goodwill message of the SGF, Dr. Akutah urged members of the Association to uphold unity, peaceful coexistence, and collective support values he described as essential for societal growth.

He commended the JDA for its developmental initiatives and its firm stance against social vices, noting significant reductions in armed robbery, cultism, theft, and banditry within the Jemgbagh axis.

Dr. Akutah assured continued support for programs promoting peace, development, and progress in Jemgbagh and across Benue State.

He also relayed Senator Akume’s call for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing that continuity of the Tinubu administration would benefit both Benue State and Nigeria.

On his governorship aspiration, Dr. Akutah said his decision stems from a desire to advance the political interests of the Kwande geopolitical bloc, which he believes has a legitimate claim to the Benue governorship in 2027.

He revealed that consultations across the state have produced broad endorsements for Kwande to present candidates.

Appearing before the JDA as a son of Kwande, Dr. Akutah sought their blessing and pledged to leverage his administrative experience to implement impactful policies for Benue’s development.

He further encouraged the Jemgbagh people to continue supporting Senator Akume, describing the SGF as a democratic pillar and mentor to many Benue indigenes.

Dr. Akutah cautioned against any attempts to undermine Senator Akume, noting that such actions would negatively affect the entire Jemgbagh bloc.

In response, Prince Yandev Amabai and Hon. Livinus Awuhe reaffirmed Jemgbagh’s unwavering support for Senator Akume, acknowledging his significant contributions to the area.

Hon. Awuhe confirmed that the Jemgbagh people had resolved to back a candidate from Kwande for the 2027 governorship, citing Dr. Akutah’s track record, modest lifestyle, and public service experience as key strengths.

The meeting concluded with prayers for Dr. Akutah and his entourage, as the Association commended his consistent support and dedication to the Jemgbagh Development Association.
