ICPC to arraign El-Rufai over alleged corruption, money laundering charges

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has concluded arrangements to arraign former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, before the Federal High Court in Kaduna on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, over alleged corruption-related offences.

According to a press statement issued by the Commission’s Head of Media and Public Communications, John Okor Odey, El-Rufai will be arraigned alongside one Joel Adoga in a suit marked FHC/KD/73/2026.

The charges reportedly include conversion and possession of public property as well as money laundering.

The anti-graft agency also disclosed that a separate case has been instituted against the former governor at the Kaduna State High Court. In the case, numbered KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26, El-Rufai is charged alongside Amadu Sule of LEDA.

Odey stated that the charges before the State High Court border on abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage, among other allegations.

Both cases, according to the ICPC, were filed on March 18, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to tackle corruption and ensure accountability in public office.

While the arraignment at the Federal High Court is scheduled for March 24, the Commission noted that the date for the State High Court proceedings will be communicated in due course.

The ICPC further confirmed that the former governor has been duly served with the charges in line with legal procedures.

Reaffirming its commitment to justice, the Commission emphasized that it remains guided by due process and the rule of law in all its operations.
