PDP NEC endorses congresses, confirms zoning ahead of National Convention

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ratified the outcome of its ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, expressing satisfaction with the conduct of the exercises across the country.

In a communiqué issued after its 107th meeting held in Abuja on Monday, the party commended its leaders, electoral committees, and members for ensuring peaceful, transparent, and credible congresses nationwide.

NEC said the successful exercises demonstrated the party’s internal strength and commitment to due process.

The committee also reviewed the ongoing electronic registration of members and praised the progress recorded so far.

It reaffirmed its commitment to building a comprehensive and technology-driven membership database, urging party members across the federation to actively participate in the exercise.

On preparations for the party’s National Convention, NEC affirmed the zoning formula for national elective positions, describing it as consistent with the PDP’s principles of equity, fairness, inclusiveness, and national balance.

The zoning arrangement, it said, would guide the conduct of the convention.
NEC further disclosed that the sale of nomination forms for the convention has commenced, advising interested aspirants to adhere strictly to the approved guidelines and timelines issued by the party.

Reiterating its readiness for the convention, the committee directed relevant organs and committees to ensure seamless coordination for a successful exercise. It announced the theme of the convention as “A Convention of Inclusiveness, Unity and Renewal.”

The committee also stressed the supremacy of the party, calling on members to remain united, disciplined, and committed to the collective interest of the PDP.

Expressing confidence in the party’s renewed strength and unity, NEC assured members and Nigerians of its readiness to provide purposeful leadership and clear national direction.

The communiqué was signed by the Chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Working Committee, Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, and its Secretary, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu.
