A Nurse, identified as Pascalina Chuwumeziem, has been allegedly killed by suspected “one chance” robbery syndicate in Abuja, triggering public outrage and renewed concerns over security in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The tragic incident reportedly occurred on two days shortly after Pascalina closed from her afternoon duty and was returning home.

Her lifeless body was discovered by the roadside in the early hours of the following morning and was subsequently taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi mortuary.

Until her death, she was a staff member of FMC Abuja. News of her killing has sent shockwaves through the nursing and medical community, with colleagues describing the incident as heartbreaking and calling for justice.

Many have also demanded a thorough and swift investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), FCT Council, Comrade Jama Medan, in a statement issued on Monday expressed deep sorrow over the loss and strongly condemned the attack.

He urged security agencies to intensify efforts to curb criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents in the nation’s capital.
