Former Kogi Gov Ibrahim Idris Dies at 77 in UK

Former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has died at the age of 77.
Idris reportedly died on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in the United Kingdom after a protracted illness.
Details surrounding his death were still sketchy as of press time, but family sources confirmed that the former governor had been battling ill health for some time.
Reacting to the development, Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased, describing Idris as a statesman who made meaningful contributions to the political and business development of the state.
Ododo, in a condolence message, recalled his last meeting with the former governor in March 2024, during a visit involving political stakeholders from Omala Local Government Area.
The governor said the contributions of the former governor to the state would be remembered, while praying for the repose of his soul and strength for his family and associates to bear the loss.
In honour of the late former governor, Ododo also declared three days of mourning across Kogi State.
