Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has terminated the appointments of political appointees serving in his administration and ordered the dissolution of boards, commissions and parastatals across the state ahead of the commencement of his second term.

The governor approved the immediate termination of the appointments of Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Technical Assistants as part of measures to reposition the administration ahead of his second term inauguration scheduled for October 16, 2026.

The development was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode.

According to the statement, the decision followed the gradual winding down of the governor’s first term in office and was aimed at preparing the administration for the commencement of its second term.

Oyebanji also directed the dissolution of the boards of government agencies, commissions and parastatals across the state.

However, the governor excluded certain statutory bodies from the dissolution. They include the State Independent Electoral Commission, Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission and Judicial Service Commission.

The governing councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions will also remain in place, in line with earlier directives issued by the governor.

Similarly, the chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Local Government Service Commission and Teaching Service Commission will retain their positions despite the dissolution of the boards under the respective agencies.

The statement added that Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the governor were also not affected by the termination of appointments.

Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the affected political appointees for their contributions to his administration and their service to the state.

He wished them success in their future endeavours as Ekiti prepares for the inauguration of his second term on October 16.
