Benue Health Ministry, APIN Strengthen Partnership to Boost HIV and Public Health Programs

The Benue State Ministry of Health and Human Services has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships with key development organizations to improve healthcare delivery across the state.

This was disclosed when the Honourable Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Ejeh Paul Ogwuche, received a delegation from the AIDS Prevention Initiative in Nigeria (APIN) Public Health Initiatives, led by its Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Programs), Dr. Jay Osi Samuels, in Makurdi.

Welcoming the APIN team, Dr. Ogwuche commended the organization for its sustained collaboration and significant contributions to the state’s health system, particularly in HIV prevention, treatment, and care.

"We sincerely thank APIN for the good work you have been doing over the years in Benue. Your support has made a real difference in the lives of many,” Dr. Ogwuche said.

“The State Government, through the Ministry of Health, remains committed to ensuring quality care and sustaining these vital health interventions.”

The Commissioner noted that the visit aligns with the renewed health agenda of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, whose administration has prioritized healthcare revitalization, expanded access, and partnership-driven service delivery.

"Under Governor Alia’s leadership, the Ministry is focused on repositioning the health sector for greater efficiency, accountability, and results. Collaborations such as this one with APIN are crucial to achieving quality healthcare for every Benue citizen,” he added.

In his remarks, Dr. Jay Osi Samuels commended the Ministry for its proactive leadership and commitment to combating HIV/AIDS and other public health challenges.

“Benue State has shown great commitment over the years in tackling HIV and improving public health outcomes. APIN remains ready to collaborate and provide the necessary technical and programmatic support to sustain these gains,” he said.

Dr. Samuels reiterated APIN’s readiness to continue supporting the state through technical assistance, data strengthening, and community-level interventions aimed at improving service delivery and patient outcomes.

The meeting ended with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to a stronger partnership and continuous collaboration toward building a healthier Benue State.
