Benue SUBEB boss reaffirms Governor Alia’s drive to end out-of-school children meance at Ushongo thanksgiving

The Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Grace Adagba, on Sunday attended a thanksgiving service in Lessel, Ushongo Local Government Area, celebrating the dedication of education administrators who have strengthened basic education in the state.
The event, held at NKST Church, brought together education stakeholders, community leaders, and well-wishers to honour Comr. Patricia Gbuuga, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation; Comr. Kingsley Ingyuran, Director of Social Mobilization, and Mrs. Nyizamber Utile, Education Secretary, Ushongo LGEA.

In her address, Dr. Adagba reaffirmed the commitment of the Benue State Government, under Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, to expanding access to quality basic education and tackling the challenge of out-of-school children.
She emphasized that education remains free and accessible to every child in Benue, calling it “the most enduring instrument for societal transformation.”
Highlighting strategic interventions in Ushongo LGA, Dr. Adagba noted the construction and renovation of schools, including LGEA Alumuku, LGEA Waku, LGEA Orbiam, and LGEA Wajir, while revealing plans for the renovation of LGEA Lessel and programmes supporting orphans and vulnerable children.

The occasion also featured a keynote address by Dr. Benjamin Ahua, who praised the Governor and SUBEB leadership for fostering a conducive learning environment and improving school infrastructure.
In a goodwill message, Rt. Comr. Levi Terna Akuma, State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), commended Governor Alia’s efforts to enhance teachers’ welfare and uphold the dignity of the profession.

The event culminated with awards of honour presented to Dr. Adagba and the celebrants by the Mbaagwa Teachers’ Forum and Nigerian Civil Service Union, SUBEB Wing, recognizing their contributions to education and public service.
Prominent attendees included Hon. Terkimbi Adzu, Chairman of Ushongo LGA; Hon. Simon Gabo, Benue House of Assembly member; Hon. Dennis Guda, Vandeikya LGA Chairman; Alhaji Aseer Ihongo, Pointman for Vandeikya; UBEC State Coordinator Mr. Idzi Baba Emmanuel; APC state leaders; traditional rulers; and other education stakeholders.
