Benue's Guma LG Chairman, Orwough, strengthens traditional institutions with vehicle donations

The Executive Chairman of Guma Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue State, Hon. Maurice Orwough, has gifted four vehicles to traditional rulers in the council as part of efforts to support and empower local leadership.
According to a statement by the Chairman’s Personal Assistant on Communication and Strategy, Ernest Tortiv, the initiative is aimed at enhancing the capacity of traditional rulers to effectively manage their communities and foster development.
The beneficiaries of the gesture include the Mbawa District Head, Chief Joseph Ortese;
Mbabai District Head, Chief Boniface Ikyanenge; Uvir District Head, Chief James Abu; and the Saghev District Head, Chief Samuel Timbee Uke.
While presenting the vehicles, Orwough highlighted the indispensable role of traditional rulers in promoting peace, security, and unity within their domains.
“Traditional rulers are key partners in our quest for peaceful and prosperous communities. Supporting them enables them to carry out their duties more effectively,” Hon. Orwough said.
He lauded the traditional rulers for their collaboration with the local government, especially in the areas of security management and community development programmes, and urged for continued partnership.
The Ter Guma and Mue Ter Ihyarev, Chief Dennis Shemberga and Chief Augustine Shonyi, received the vehicles on behalf of all beneficiaries and expressed gratitude to the chairman for the support.
Describing the donation as a mark of respect and recognition for traditional institutions, they emphasized the importance of such gestures in strengthening local governance.
“We are grateful to the chairman for this meaningful support. It motivates us to work harder in promoting peace, unity, and development in our communities,” the royal fathers said.
They also pledged ongoing cooperation with the local government, promising to maintain harmony and contribute to the socio-economic growth of Guma Local Government Area.
