Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, begins Law Degree at Northwest University

Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, has begun academic activities at Northwest University, Kano, after enrolling as a 200-level student in the Faculty of Law.
The monarch attended lectures on Tuesday alongside other undergraduates, dressed modestly in a black flowing outfit and a white turban.
He was seen seated quietly at the back of the classroom on a three-seater chair, attentively following the lecture like other students.
Sanusi’s presence on campus follows a special admission granted to him by the university last week.
Northwest University admitted the emir into its Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme in Common and Sharia Law, citing his vast experience in governance, economics, and public service.
Established in 2012, Northwest University is one of two state-owned universities in Kano State.
A former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and a holder of a PhD, Sanusi remains a respected public intellectual.
He is widely recognized for his contributions to economic policy discourse, as well as his strong advocacy for education, social reform, and good governance.
