Lampard beats Arteta, gets Sir Alex Ferguson's praise after Coventry promotion, earning LMA's manager of the season

Coventry City manager Frank Lampard received a heartfelt congratulatory message from Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson after emerging as the League Managers Association’s Manager of the Year.

Lampard guided Coventry City to a remarkable Championship title victory and secured the club’s long-awaited return to the Premier League for the first time since 2001.

His outstanding achievement earned him both the Championship Manager award and the prestigious Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy for overall Manager of the Year at the LMA Awards ceremony in London.

Although Ferguson was absent due to recent health concerns, England manager Thomas Tuchel presented the award on his behalf and read a personal letter from the former Manchester United boss.

In the message, Ferguson praised Lampard’s leadership, humility, and attractive style of football, noting that Coventry played “with confidence and self-belief” throughout the season. He also wished Lampard success in the Premier League next season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta collected the Premier League Manager of the Year award after leading the Gunners to another strong campaign.

Other winners included Manchester City Women’s coach Andree Jeglertz, Charlton’s Karen Hills, Lincoln City’s Michael Skubala, and Bromley manager Andy Woodman, who were recognised for their achievements across the English football leagues.
