NDC zones 2027 presidential ticket to south for single four-year term

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria for a single four-year term.
The decision was reached during the maiden National Convention of the party, where a motion moved by the member representing Ogbaru Constituency of Anambra State in the 10th National Assembly, Afam Victor Ogene, was unanimously adopted by delegates.
As part of the resolution, the party also agreed that after the completion of the four-year tenure, the presidential ticket would automatically return to Northern Nigeria.
The development is seen as a major boost for former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, and other southern aspirants, clearing the path for them to obtain and contest for the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
