PDP claims millions still loyal amid APC defections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says Nigerians remain loyal despite defections to the ruling APC, highlighting grassroots support through its digital membership drive.

Comrade Ini Ememobong, the party’s factional National Publicity Secretary, revealed that over 4.2 million members have registered as of March 31, 2026.

“The data shows politicians are defecting, not the electorate,” Ememobong said, noting registrations span rural and urban areas nationwide.

"Male members slightly outnumber females, while youth aged 18–40 make up 40% of registrants. Regionally, the South-West led with 953,954 members, followed by the South-South with 917,652. Kaduna State recorded the highest state-level turnout," he said.

Ememobong linked the strong numbers to public dissatisfaction with insecurity under the APC-led government. He also reaffirmed the PDP’s independence from the ruling party, urging Nigerians to ignore internal factions aligned with the APC.

The digital registration has been extended to April 30, 2026, and the party continues verifying entries. “This show of confidence places on us the responsibility to safeguard their future,” Ememobong said.
