The death toll from a series of attacks along the Rafin Kada–Wukari road has risen to 11, following the reported deaths of six passengers who sustained gunshot injuries in a separate vehicle travelling from Donga.

The latest casualties came amid renewed violence along the route, where a former Ason Youth Leader was reportedly killed in a fresh attack.

Three Fulani herdsmen were also reportedly shot dead during the incident, while two other victims sustained bullet injuries and were said to be receiving medical attention.

The attacks have heightened tension in Rafin Kada and surrounding communities, with residents thrown into mourning and fearful of further violence along the busy road.

Sources said the latest incident has added to growing concerns over the security situation on the Rafin Kada–Wukari axis, which has reportedly witnessed a series of attacks in recent times.

The development has renewed calls by residents and community leaders for urgent security intervention to protect motorists, passengers and other road users travelling along the route.

Residents appealed to security agencies to intensify patrols and intelligence gathering along the road to prevent further attacks and restore confidence among commuters.

The latest deaths have also heightened concerns over the safety of travellers using the route, as communities await stronger security measures to halt the recurring violence.
