APC’s FCT sweep signals rising grassroots support for Tinubu, says Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has hailed the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its strong showing in the just-concluded Area Council elections in Abuja, describing the outcome as a clear endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s policies.

Reacting to the results, Wike said the party’s impressive performance reflects growing public confidence in the administration’s programmes and reforms.

According to him, the victories recorded by the APC, especially in rural and previously hard-to-reach communities within the FCT, indicate that government initiatives are beginning to make tangible impacts at the grassroots.

“The results demonstrate that our policies are resonating with the people,” Wike stated, noting that for the first time, the APC secured councillorship seats in several hinterland areas of the territory.

He also pointed to what he described as an overwhelming majority won by the APC in the local council chairmanship positions, stressing that the development marks a significant shift in the political landscape of the FCT.

Beyond Abuja, the minister commented on the outcome of the recent by-election in Rivers State, characterising the APC’s performance there as a triumph of a “rainbow coalition” of political actors.

Wike said the coalition represents a broad alignment of stakeholders rallying behind President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

He added that the election outcomes signal evolving political dynamics and increasing cross-party collaboration as parties position themselves ahead of future electoral contests.

The minister maintained that the results in both the FCT and Rivers State underscored a growing national consensus around the current administration’s direction and priorities.
