El-Rufai dumps APC for ADC as four others switch parties

The House of Representatives on Thursday witnessed a fresh wave of defections as Rep. Bello El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, officially left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaker of the House, Rep. Abbas Tajudeen, announced the development during plenary while reading letters submitted by the lawmakers.
According to the Speaker, Bello El-Rufai joined the ADC alongside two lawmakers from Kaduna State who also defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). They are Rep. Umar Ajilo and Rep. Suleiman Yahaya Richifa.
In a related development, Rep. Kamilu Ado of Kano State defected from the ADC to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), while Rep. Joshua Obika, representing the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory, resigned from the APC and joined the NDC.
The lawmakers attributed their defections to internal crises, uncertainty, and unresolved challenges within their former political parties.
