Outrage in Cross River as akara seller allegedly caught mixing human waste with beans

Residents of Cross River State have expressed shock and outrage following an incident involving an akara vendor who was allegedly caught mixing human feces with beans used for food preparation.

The incident, which reportedly occurred on Friday, June 5, 2026, on Ani Street along the Ikom–Obudu Road, has since gone viral on social media, attracting widespread condemnation and calls for an urgent investigation by relevant authorities.

According to reports, the woman, known in the area for selling akara and bread, was confronted by members of the public after suspicions were raised about substances allegedly being added to beans intended for frying akara.

A video circulating on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, shows the woman seated on the ground while being questioned by bystanders.

In the footage, she was reportedly asked to reveal the contents of an item in her possession, which onlookers alleged was human waste intended to be mixed with beans for food preparation.

The video has generated intense reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over food safety and public health.

Social media users described the allegation as disturbing and called on health authorities and law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter thoroughly.
