Ogbomoso youths threaten total shutdown over abducted Oriire schoolchildren, teachers

Youths in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, have threatened to embark on a total shutdown of commercial and social activities across the town if the abducted pupils and teachers of Oriire Community High School are not rescued.

The warning was conveyed in a video circulating on social media, showing a large group of young people marching through the streets with placards and posters demanding urgent action from authorities.

Speaking during the procession, one of the youth leaders expressed frustration over the prolonged captivity of the victims, warning that markets, workplaces and major roads would be shut down from Monday if no significant progress is made in securing their release.

The threat follows growing concern among residents over the fate of the schoolchildren and teachers, whose abduction has continued to generate anxiety across Ogbomoso and other parts of Oyo State.

Many residents have lamented what they describe as a decline in security in a town long regarded as relatively peaceful and hospitable, particularly to students and visitors.
