APC State Assembly Primary: Benue Deputy Speaker records emphatic victory in Ado constituency

The Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Chief Mrs. Lami Danladi Ogenyi, has clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Ado State Constituency seat after recording a massive victory in the party’s primary election.

Mrs. Ogenyi polled 7,132 votes to defeat her closest challenger, Mr. Mark Ochoga, who secured 264 votes in the keenly watched exercise conducted across the 10 Council Wards of Ado Local Government Area.

The primary election results were collated at Igumale, the headquarters of the local government area, in the presence of party officials, security personnel, delegates, and supporters.

Declaring the outcome of the exercise, the Returning Officer for the constituency, Mr. Abraham Akaater, described the election as peaceful, transparent, and credible.

According to him, the exercise complied fully with the Electoral Act as well as the APC constitution and guidelines.

“The conduct of the primary election was peaceful and hitch-free. All accredited delegates were given the opportunity to participate freely in the process in line with the democratic principles of our great party,” Akaater stated.

He added that Mrs. Ogenyi fulfilled all the requirements for the contest and emerged with the highest number of valid votes cast.

“Therefore, Mrs. Lami Danladi Ogenyi, having satisfied all the conditions for the election and secured the highest number of votes, having polled 7,132 votes, is hereby declared the winner and nominated for the Ado State Constituency,” he declared.

With the victory, Mrs. Ogenyi will represent the APC in the forthcoming Benue State House of Assembly election for Ado State Constituency where stakeholders have maintained that she has been a major  force in the politics of that party of the state.
